Cute Kid+Hubby+Date=Happy Me

This weekend was fun! Michael worked on Friday night but on Saturday, Emily and I hung out in her room for a bit...she loves her new mirror.

When Michael woke up we played in the kiddy pool and sprinklers with Emily, got ready, and we went to the mall. I got to go shopping with a giftcard my MIL gave me (a sweater, because I'm already ready for Fall) and then we went out to dinner with the money she gave me for my birthday!

After dinner we put Emily to bed and watched the movie Oblivion. It was alright-good but kind of long. All in a really fun day that only cost us like $5.00 :).

On Sunday we went to church....

..lounged around (Emily on her new beanbag chair), did some cleaning, and went on a walk.

It was a good weekend :)

Happies and Crappies

Scissors and a Whisk: Happies and Crappies Link Up

Where did this week go?! What did I even do this week? Let's see if I can come up with some Happies and Crappies...

Happies:

- I've been dog sitting my parents dog again. It's nice to have him around because Emily loves playing with him (aka chasing him around, feeding him her food, etc).

-Lot's of success with Scentsy this past week! Very exciting!

- My brother Steven turned 28 and my other brother Brian turned 30! They're single, ladies!!

- Enjoying the little kiddie pool outside with Emily. Seeing Emily look adorable, Michael lookin' hot, and feeling more confident in my bikini (in my backyard).

- Emily has been very lovey lately and I'm soaking it up!

Crappies:

- My parents dog has been missing my mom. How can I tell? Do you know how hard it is to share a bed with this giant dog and my dog? Thank goodness Michael works nights, haha!

- Our house is being over run by earwigs and spiders. This is the worst season of the year for me as far as bug season and allergies.

- Haven't worked out that much this week. I did, however, run a mile on the treadmill for like the first time ever. Hahaha. My time sucked. But I'm hoping to do my first 5k in June with my friend Wendy!

I'd say overall this week was a good one! Have a great weekend!

Food and Shopping Date? Yes, please.

After having such a good weekend, I was a little nervous that yesterday would be a let down. The day started off good with some gym time for both of us. We kinda-sorta had plans to try to go on a date while a friend of mine watched Emily for us but one of her kids got sick so we ended up going on our "date" with Emily in tow.

Emily did well in the car as long as we kept handing her snacks to munch on. She would raise her hand up and start to whine impatiently if we weren't fast enough with the grub. Here's a picture of the hilarity.

After driving around and around trying to decide (agree) on a place that we both wanted to eat at and that we could take Emily to, I convinced Michael to let us eat at Panera. I love Panera!! I got the BBQ chicken salad, bread, and broccoli cheese soup. Oh my goodness. YUM.

Emily even liked it! If you know Emily, you know that feeding her is an ordeal. No food thrown on the floor means it was a success in my book!

After we stuffed ourselves, we did some shopping nearby. I got to use a giftcard I had to get some much needed new cropped jeans (it's already so warm here) and a shirt. I got my first pear of jeans there a couple months ago and they are my favorite ones. I don't even wear other jeans anymore!

I also got these pretty new bad boys!

Remember how I wanted some but didn't want to spend a fortune on them? I looked around Nordstrom Rack to see if I could get a good deal- bam! $43! That's a whole lot cheaper than I've seen them at other places! Still pricey but you know what? I've been wearing my work out shoes more than my regular shoes these days! I'm excited to not wear clunky running shoes anymore!

Anyways, it was obviously a great date. We all had fun and I got spoiled. Win! ;)

Happies and Crappies

Scissors and a Whisk: Happies and Crappies Link Up

I'm linking up for the first time today to do Happies and Crappies with my new blog friends Sarah and Stephanie! What is "Happies and Crappies"? Basically a list of all the good and bad that occurred during the week! Fun, right?! Go link up!

Happies:

 - We got to spend time with family and friends on Monday. We had a game night for the second time this month! (By the way, my friend Wendy and I are setting up her brother with one of my best friends. All of which are pictured below!)

-Michael is on vacation so we've been able to spend so much more time together! We've gone out to eat a couple of times. One of which was yesterday. We went to BJ's for their two for $20 special. Yum!

-We had our church's Easter Egg Hunt this week! We had practiced with Emily around the house earlier in the day so that by the time it came down to business, she would be awesome at it. She didn't disappoint! She knows the word "egg" now. She also knows "I dunno" and "I got it!". Haha!

- I got compliments on my necklace at the Easter Egg hunt! :)

- I've still been able to keep up with going to the gym! I kind of love it, actually. I want to go every day now! And with Michael being on vacation, I can! I love feeling myself get stronger with each workout I do. I weighed myself the other day and I actually weigh more but it must be from fat turning to muscle because I'm not getting any bigger but I am getting more toned!

- My sister is officially serving as a missionary in Berlin, Germany! Which brings me to my next "happy"...I've been reading my scriptures every night for the past two months and I'm so glad I got back into the habit. I feel like I'm getting my life in all sorts of order lately! Spiritually, physically, and mentally.

Crappies:

- Our water heater broke so we had to take cold showers on Wednesday. I'm pretty sure our neighbors were probably wondering what all the screaming was about. COLD WATER! On Thursday I just took a shower at the gym after my workout. Much better! We've bathed Emily in the sink with water we pour in after heating it on the stove. Ghetto!! Hoping to get it fixed in the next day or so!

- Talked to a personal trainer briefly (of course he tried to get me to sign up to do once a week sessions with him for $140 a month- who's got that extra money laying around?) about how my toes on my right foot go numb when I do cardio exercise. It's been like that for years but it's getting a little more annoying lately. He thinks I need to see a doctor for an MRI (scary word) to see if it's something like a messed up disc in my back or a nerve or something. He said if I don't get it "taken care of", the numbness might spread up my leg to my hip eventually. Umm...I guess I need to see a doctor. I always thought it was my shoes that were the problem.

-One of my best friends since like 5th grade called to let me know her mom has breast cancer. She is going in for surgery early next month so please keep her in your prayers! Hoping they get it all and that she will be okay. I love that family!

Ups and Downs of Our Week

Last week was such a roller coaster of emotions and so much happened that it is hard to even remember everything.

UP: The week started off good because we went to California Pizza Kitchen and then walked around the mall. I got a pair of jeans from American Eagle that I really needed and I love them! It was fun to get out of the house as a family. I took pictures because I hardly ever wear makeup these days!

DOWN: Then the week took a turn for the worse when on Wednesday Michael had a job interview that didn't go well and he didn't end up getting a promotion that we were really hoping for. That was a very hard pill to swallow and for a couple of days we were both super depressed, not knowing what to do next or what the future holds.

UP: Thank goodness my friend Kambree came to stay with me for a night and kept me company. She is one of those friends who is always there for you and gives the best hugs! Love that girl!

UP: On Friday things got better when we headed out to Orange County for one of my best friends baptisms. She had been going to our church since she was in high school and so this was a long time coming! A lot of my friends were there so it was all around a much needed night of getting spiritually fed and being around loved ones. We stayed at my parents house that night and then Saturday my dad and I took Emily on a nice walk around their neighborhood. Then later that evening, we hung out with his brothers and their wives who live in the area. We always have a good time with them! It was especially good for Michael to be with them since he had been working every night until then. We went to dinner and played games.

DOWN: That night we decided to stay an extra night so we could be around them longer but then all night long after about 3:00 am we were up and down with Emily the rest of the night. She would fall asleep on us and then wake up screaming bloody murder. It was a long night. It wasn't until the drive home the next morning (Sunday) when she was tugging on her ears that I realized it was probably an ear infection. We took her to Urgent Care and they confirmed she had a double ear infection, a small cold, and the rash she had developed all over her body was a viral rash that would clear up in a few days. No wonder she has been really fussy, has had a fever off and on, not sleeping well, low appetite, etc. I feel terrible we didn't know sooner! :(

UP: She is on antibiotics and Tylenol for pain. It seems to be working already, thank goodness!

UP: Michael and I were able to spend some time together last night and that was really nice. As fun as it is to hang out with friends and family, it's hard to not get any one on one time with Michael!

That was our week/weekend that had MANY ups and downs!!

Our Valentine's Day Date With Emily

Since Michael works nights, our dates are usually lunches...with Emily. But yesterday that didn't bother us because she is our little Valentine and stole both of our hearts. It seemed appropriate that she celebrate the day of love with the two people who love her the most in the world. This little family of ours is filled with so much love that it's hard to imagine even being capable of expanding it and spreading it out over more kids someday. Someday. Don't get too excited, we aren't ready for another baby quite yet. :)

Although, it's kind of crazy to think that Emily isn't even really a baby anymore! I was holding her, asleep in my arms last night, and thinking about how big she has gotten. Where has the time gone? She is growing into such a fun, loving, independent little girl!

Sigh.

Back to our date yesterday!

After Emily and I let Michael sleep for a while, we woke him up and we got ready and went to lunch at TGIFriday's. It was great! Emily loved sitting between us on the booth for most our time there. Our waitress loved Emily and kept trying to get her to smile for her but Emily can be really wary of strangers so she just stared at her until she walked away and then would continue being silly and happy. Poor waitress :).

That was pretty much our Valentine's Day!

Building Forts and Scentsy Deals!!

You guys! I am so bad at blogging consistently. I have all these posts written...in my head. It's just more difficult to take the time to sit and type them up. I'm trying!! Maybe I need to figure out a way to do it while Emily is awake and playing. I don't usually get on the computer while Emily is around because she pulls on the chords, climbs on my lap, starts doing her own blog post like this "docoslcodowodof ijsskfbfod" etc. Haha. So blogging with her is hard, as you can imagine!

We spent some time with my sister before she left on her mission on Monday. Here is an old school fort we made at my parents house last week. Emily loved it!

A sweet picture of Emily clinging on to her grandma :).

It's crazy to think how Emily will be so different next time she see's Kristin. Let's see..what else is going on with us lately? Michael is working almost every day lately with all of his overtime. He works 12 hour shifts at night. Plus about an hour commute, one way. It is hard to spend a lot of time apart but I am grateful he is such a hard worker!

We are really looking forward to our tax returns! We won't be doing anything exciting with it like traveling but we will be able to pay stuff off- which is exciting for us! :)

I have 2-3 Scentsy parties in the next couple of weeks because it's the last month of the fall/winter products. Almost everything is 10% off before they get discontinued and the spring/summer products come out next month! People are stocking up!

Emily loves smelling the bars :)! This one is one we all love called Amalfi Coast! Try it!

A Walk In The Park

The last two weekends we have had have been so much fun!! Two weekends ago, on Sunday we went to my in laws house and had dinner with them. After the babies went to bed (well, Ellie went to bed but Emily was a stinker and fought it and won- her nana didn't mind), us "kids" (SIL's Jocelyn and Sarah, BIL's Jason and Tyler, Michael and I) went in the new hot tub that my FIL just put in their backyard. It was so much fun to hang out and talk out there.

The next day, after Emily had an amazing three hour long nap (probably due to a long night the night before), Jocelyn, Jason, Ellie, Michael, Emily, and I went to this really cool park in Orange County. It's called Irvine Park. They have a zoo (that we went to last time we went there), tons of trails, horse and pony rides, a train ride around the park, etc.

This time we wanted to take the girls on the train. It was so cute to see them both standing and looking around as we chugged along slowly around the park. They loved it!

Here are some pictures of the girls (in their well coordinated outfits) waiting in line for the train.

After the train ride we walked around the pond that had a ton of ducks. Emily wanted to dive right in with them so we had to hold onto her, much to her disappointment! We walked around the park, showed them all kinds of animals and stuff.

Then we found this awesome fenced in grassy field next to some picnic tables. The girls loooooved running around and playing freely in the grass. It was the cutest thing!!

It was so beautiful and great weather too. It was one of those life moments that you think to yourself that that is what life is all about. Family and love is what makes me so happy. I am so blessed!

After the park, we were all hungry so we went and got some lunch at Subway and ate it back at my in laws house. Eventually we went home later that evening. It was a great weekend!

Five Years of Marriage? Check!

Tomorrow will be our FIFTH wedding anniversary! It's so crazy to think how much has happened in five years but it's also weird to say we have been married five years. It makes me feel old or something, haha! We have accomplished a lot in five years and have been through many ups and downs but I wouldn't have it any other way!

We celebrated our anniversary on Monday because Michael had the day off. Thanks to my mom, who babysat Emily for us, we got to do a bunch of things!

First, we went to see a movie (which we hadn't done together in several months)...

Then, we went bowling...

After bowling, we went to an early dinner at Claim Jumper. Yum!!

Michael showed off his new ring I bought him for his anniversary gift! We both love it.

Michael got me a gift certificate for a hour hour massage at Massage Envy. Score!!
I love getting massages!

I love Michael and I am so glad that after five years of marriage, we can still say that we love AND like each other! Haha!

Happy Anniversary, honey!! You are definitely the right man for me and a wonderful daddy, too! I love you!

Weekend Update

First, I never wrote that on Monday my parents came to visit and babysat for us so Michael and I could go to dinner. It was SO NICE. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings (we love it there but haven't gone in over a year.)

After dinner we went to Target to get a few things we needed. One of which was new shoes for Emily. We now have matching grey Converse! But hers are velcro high tops :).

While we were out, we got texts of what Emily was up to. They had a lot of fun with her with a big cardboard box they brought over and my dad read to her. So Cute!

This weekend was fun!

I got to spend time with my friend Kambree and she even spent the night in our guest bedroom. I love having her over! She is in the military and so is husband so they go months without seeing each other. Michael works a crazy schedule and I think THAT is hard. I don't know how she does it!

Emily fell asleep on me while drinking a bottle and watching TV for the first time...

On Saturday we took Emily to the park and then I went with my friend Stephanie to dinner and to see Breaking Dawn Part II. (Which, by the way, was SO INTENSE.) It was so nice to get out and see a movie. I hadn't been to a movie in MONTHS. Sad, isn't it?! Michael was nice enough to stay home with Emily so I could go out :). I NEED to see it again.

On Sunday we went to church. By the way, Michael got called to be Sunday School secretary and I got called to be the Primary secretary but I am also still teaching until they find someone to replace me for good. We were sad about this change at first because we really love the class we teach. They are such great kids. But I'm happy to still be serving in Primary (with children).

After Sunday naps (well, Emily and Michael napped- I used that opportunity to blog) we headed over to spend the night at Michaels parents house to spend some time over there. It's always fun to get together with family! Emily and my niece Ellie have fun playing together.

That was our weekend! I hope you had a good one too!
