Emily's Two Years Old! {Birthday Party}

For Emily's second birthday party I thought the theme should be elephants since that was the first animal noise she did and she just likes them. Once I decided on a theme (elephants and chevron), it was a lot of fun putting it all together.

Here's a picture of the banner, sorry it's not very good! The rest of the pictures are way better than this one but it's all I had of it.

This cake was great! I bought a white sheet cake from Costco and then had one of my friends decorate it for me. It was adorable! As you can see in the top of the picture, I also served little sandwiches of PB&J and also Jelly with Cream Cheese. There were a lot of finger foods. Fruit, veggies, meatballs, chips and salsa, spinach artichoke dip, cheese and crackers, candy, etc.

I found an Etsy shop for the door sign, banner, and centerpieces. The shop is called Emerald City Paperie and they had a lot of cute stuff and were willing to customize for me!

I provided the party guests with these little party favors. I bought the bags from the Dollar Store and folded them up myself. I found another Etsy shop named Sweet Pea Paper Things to do the pink elephant party favor tags. Very cute and I just easily stuck them on. Then I just filled the party favors with peanuts (because, you know, the elephant theme).

Another fun thing (that I got carried away with...) I found was a perfect dress for Emily that had grey chevron and a pink elephant on it! It matched the theme! So I ordered it from Happy Smiles 4 U

Then, believe it or not, I found a skirt for me that matched her dress!! Except no elephant, which was preferable- haha! I ordered a skirt from Shabby Chic Boykin Bowtique and it also came with a matching bow, which I put in Emily's hair since we were all matchy matchy! I was a little afraid we would be TOO matchy matchy but people got a kick out of it and so did I :).

Emily wasn't really into the unwrapping of the presents. She kept trying to run away with what I unwrapped already instead of focusing on the next one she was getting!

After we I opened all her presents, we sang Happy Birthday to her, had her blow her candles out, and served the cake!

We love our little girl so much. She brings us so much joy and makes us better people. She is our entire world and gives our life more meaning. Happy Birthday, Emily!!!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Cute Kid+Hubby+Date=Happy Me

This weekend was fun! Michael worked on Friday night but on Saturday, Emily and I hung out in her room for a bit...she loves her new mirror.

When Michael woke up we played in the kiddy pool and sprinklers with Emily, got ready, and we went to the mall. I got to go shopping with a giftcard my MIL gave me (a sweater, because I'm already ready for Fall) and then we went out to dinner with the money she gave me for my birthday!

After dinner we put Emily to bed and watched the movie Oblivion. It was alright-good but kind of long. All in a really fun day that only cost us like $5.00 :).

On Sunday we went to church....

..lounged around (Emily on her new beanbag chair), did some cleaning, and went on a walk.

It was a good weekend :)

Emily Update/Birthday Weekend

Last week we dog sat my parents dog Tyler. Emily loves when we do this because she loves to chase him around and play with him. Jexi doesn't play, so this is exciting stuff for her :).

She loved laying in Tyler's bed too.

Jexi likes laying in our bed.

I don't know if I've blogged this before but Emily loves playing with her "babies". She tries putting her diapers on them, pretends to take their temperature and listen to their heart (with a play doctor set Kambree got her), pushes them on her scooter, puts them in her highchair, gives her bottle to them, etc. It's so cute and I know she will be a great big sister someday!

Another random thing Emily likes to do now is pull my clothes off of the hangers and out of drawers and put them on her. She has already mastered wearing my shoes and walking in them. She also loves hats and she knows where my hats are in the closet. Oh, and jewelry. She loves putting my bracelets on.

Just last week she learned "yes", "yeah", and "please". She also learned how to turn on and off the light switches...so there's that. :) Emily will be 22 months this week. It's crazy how quickly she learns and grows.

Yesterday was my birthday! I turned 26. On Saturday I went shopping by myself (which is the best way to go shopping for me). I got a bracelet and necklace at Charming Charlie, a few shirts at Forever 21, and a few other things. My parents came by for a bit to get Tyler and play with Emily. I'll have to post the adorable pictures we took of them playing another day. Michael worked Saturday night so I made myself some popcorn and drank root beer from a glass bottle as I watched the movie The Impossible. It was a party of one but still enjoyable!

On Sunday (birthday) Michael made me Cream of Wheat and I got to eat it in bed. Then Emily and I went to church and then the rest of the day the three of us just kinda hung out. It was nice! Michael goes back to work tonight and works the rest of the week so I'm glad I at least got to see him on my birthday. That was pretty much our weekend!
