Food and Shopping Date? Yes, please.

After having such a good weekend, I was a little nervous that yesterday would be a let down. The day started off good with some gym time for both of us. We kinda-sorta had plans to try to go on a date while a friend of mine watched Emily for us but one of her kids got sick so we ended up going on our "date" with Emily in tow.

Emily did well in the car as long as we kept handing her snacks to munch on. She would raise her hand up and start to whine impatiently if we weren't fast enough with the grub. Here's a picture of the hilarity.

After driving around and around trying to decide (agree) on a place that we both wanted to eat at and that we could take Emily to, I convinced Michael to let us eat at Panera. I love Panera!! I got the BBQ chicken salad, bread, and broccoli cheese soup. Oh my goodness. YUM.

Emily even liked it! If you know Emily, you know that feeding her is an ordeal. No food thrown on the floor means it was a success in my book!

After we stuffed ourselves, we did some shopping nearby. I got to use a giftcard I had to get some much needed new cropped jeans (it's already so warm here) and a shirt. I got my first pear of jeans there a couple months ago and they are my favorite ones. I don't even wear other jeans anymore!

I also got these pretty new bad boys!

Remember how I wanted some but didn't want to spend a fortune on them? I looked around Nordstrom Rack to see if I could get a good deal- bam! $43! That's a whole lot cheaper than I've seen them at other places! Still pricey but you know what? I've been wearing my work out shoes more than my regular shoes these days! I'm excited to not wear clunky running shoes anymore!

Anyways, it was obviously a great date. We all had fun and I got spoiled. Win! ;)

Our Valentine's Day Date With Emily

Since Michael works nights, our dates are usually lunches...with Emily. But yesterday that didn't bother us because she is our little Valentine and stole both of our hearts. It seemed appropriate that she celebrate the day of love with the two people who love her the most in the world. This little family of ours is filled with so much love that it's hard to imagine even being capable of expanding it and spreading it out over more kids someday. Someday. Don't get too excited, we aren't ready for another baby quite yet. :)

Although, it's kind of crazy to think that Emily isn't even really a baby anymore! I was holding her, asleep in my arms last night, and thinking about how big she has gotten. Where has the time gone? She is growing into such a fun, loving, independent little girl!

Sigh.

Back to our date yesterday!

After Emily and I let Michael sleep for a while, we woke him up and we got ready and went to lunch at TGIFriday's. It was great! Emily loved sitting between us on the booth for most our time there. Our waitress loved Emily and kept trying to get her to smile for her but Emily can be really wary of strangers so she just stared at her until she walked away and then would continue being silly and happy. Poor waitress :).

That was pretty much our Valentine's Day!

Five Years of Marriage? Check!

Tomorrow will be our FIFTH wedding anniversary! It's so crazy to think how much has happened in five years but it's also weird to say we have been married five years. It makes me feel old or something, haha! We have accomplished a lot in five years and have been through many ups and downs but I wouldn't have it any other way!

We celebrated our anniversary on Monday because Michael had the day off. Thanks to my mom, who babysat Emily for us, we got to do a bunch of things!

First, we went to see a movie (which we hadn't done together in several months)...

Then, we went bowling...

After bowling, we went to an early dinner at Claim Jumper. Yum!!

Michael showed off his new ring I bought him for his anniversary gift! We both love it.

Michael got me a gift certificate for a hour hour massage at Massage Envy. Score!!
I love getting massages!

I love Michael and I am so glad that after five years of marriage, we can still say that we love AND like each other! Haha!

Happy Anniversary, honey!! You are definitely the right man for me and a wonderful daddy, too! I love you!

Weekend Update

First, I never wrote that on Monday my parents came to visit and babysat for us so Michael and I could go to dinner. It was SO NICE. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings (we love it there but haven't gone in over a year.)

After dinner we went to Target to get a few things we needed. One of which was new shoes for Emily. We now have matching grey Converse! But hers are velcro high tops :).

While we were out, we got texts of what Emily was up to. They had a lot of fun with her with a big cardboard box they brought over and my dad read to her. So Cute!

This weekend was fun!

I got to spend time with my friend Kambree and she even spent the night in our guest bedroom. I love having her over! She is in the military and so is husband so they go months without seeing each other. Michael works a crazy schedule and I think THAT is hard. I don't know how she does it!

Emily fell asleep on me while drinking a bottle and watching TV for the first time...

On Saturday we took Emily to the park and then I went with my friend Stephanie to dinner and to see Breaking Dawn Part II. (Which, by the way, was SO INTENSE.) It was so nice to get out and see a movie. I hadn't been to a movie in MONTHS. Sad, isn't it?! Michael was nice enough to stay home with Emily so I could go out :). I NEED to see it again.

On Sunday we went to church. By the way, Michael got called to be Sunday School secretary and I got called to be the Primary secretary but I am also still teaching until they find someone to replace me for good. We were sad about this change at first because we really love the class we teach. They are such great kids. But I'm happy to still be serving in Primary (with children).

After Sunday naps (well, Emily and Michael napped- I used that opportunity to blog) we headed over to spend the night at Michaels parents house to spend some time over there. It's always fun to get together with family! Emily and my niece Ellie have fun playing together.

That was our weekend! I hope you had a good one too!

Kissed A Lot Of Frogs (Happy 5 Years Together!)

This was orignally a guest post over at Domesticated Bliss last year but I thought it would be appropriate to share this with you now (in honor of being with Michael for FIVE YEARS total now) in case you hadn't read it yet.

I got married at 20 years old. Yes, I know. I was very young! But in my defense, even though I got hitched at twenty, I had plenty of experience with dating. Enough experience to know that the relationship I had with Michael was something different and special.
You see, it all started back in elementary school. You know, the days when you would "go out" with someone for a week and it was a huge deal? Yeah, I did that. I still have some love notes stashed away from those days because I find them so fun to read every 5 years or so.
Then, junior high school. Oh...there were crushes. I had my first peck on the lips in 8th grade. He broke up with me the next day because I wouldn't make out with him by the locker rooms after school in front of all his friends.
High school. This is when it all started getting a little more complicated! My first real kiss was a real monumental moment in time. His name was Tristan. He was a real "bad boy" and we flirted in gym class. As the bell rang and kids started heading back to the locker rooms to change, Tristan grabbed me and kissed me right in front of his friends, my friend (who, btw, I just talked to about this for the first time and she said it was hilarious), and probably a ton of other people too. You would think I would be traumatized by such a thing, but I was just so relieved to have my first kiss over and done with. I had been worried about not knowing how to kiss and now I knew! Or, at least, sort of did.
I did, however, swear off having a "boyfriend" until I was 16 after that. My family moved to Orange County during my freshman year and I took that as an opportunity to change my ways. Ha!
First there was Daniel. He was in my friends band. We dated for a couple weeks and I felt so proud to have the lead singer in a band as my boyfriend. He dumped me because my parents scared him.
Then there was Jered. He was a little younger than me, played water polo, and was known to be a bit of a hothead. He cheated on me, I still kept him around, and then he dumped me anyway because his friends were telling him I wasn't hot enough for him.
I went on a few dates with this guy named Mike. He had long blonde hair and wore neon green short shorts on one of our dates. He also had this tradition of buying his dates a huge slurpee cup from 7-11. It was my trophy for dating him, I guess.
Jordan. He was graduated already, worked for real estate, had a car, and his mom was barely ever home. We had fun. He told me green wasn't my color. My family loved him. He joined my church. I got bored with him and wanted out. He still clung on for a while. I was a little mean to him because he wouldn't get a clue. Not very proud of that!
Matt was a friend of a friend. He was 20 years old and mature. Sort of. He wouldn't take me to my prom because he felt it would be silly to go at his age. We did, however, dress up as if we were going, and then go to dinner and cosmic bowling.
After I graduated, I realized how attached to him I was getting and it scared me. I was only 18! I wanted to play the field! So, I told him I didn't want to be exclusive.
Things got a little crazy for me after that.
There was the alcoholic marine who fell in love with me after a few weeks and I broke up with him because he went to a strip club in Tijuana with his marine buddies. Then there was a sweet guy who was training to be a fireman, was super tall, and left a rose and sweet note on my car while I was working. But once again, too attached to me. I do feel bad for how I ended it with him. I was just too young to settle down! After/during him (crazy times, I tell ya) I was having a little thing with this other guy who I knew from high school. That was just for fun. Perfect for what I wanted! But even that got old.
I decided it was time for in a change in my life. I moved out of my parents home and in with some friends about 7 hours away, back where I used to live. Then, despite the fact that all I wanted was to be single, this guy was very persistent. Do you remember my first kiss from junior high? Him. We dated for a year until I broke up with him. That was an UGLY breakup. Without going into too much detail, it was one of the worst times of my life because even after we were apart, he continued to do things just to hurt me. I moved back home.

While I was dealing with healing from that horrendous situation, I started dating someone else. It lasted a few months, we had some good times, but I didn't feel anything more for him. I was going to wait until after his finals to break up with him (aren't I kind?*facepalm*) but he beat me to the punch. He knew it wasn't feeling right.
So, then I started dating Michael. He had just broken up with my friend, and I had just dated his friend, so there were definitely some hurt feelings. We almost stopped dating because we were losing all of our friends and didn't know if it was worth it, but in the end decided that what we had going on was special and worth everyone hating us. Even though it was hard to not have any friends for a while, we fell in love and that was enough. We have no regrets!

I sure had to kiss a lot of frogs in order to find my prince and once I found him, there was nothing that was going to get in my way!

First Time At The Pool and In A Hammock

Our Saturday was a first for Emily at the pool. I've been looking forward to taking her for a long time. At first she wasn't sure she liked it. Like her Momma, she doesn't like cold water and we had to ease in slowly together.

Then I showed her how to splash in it and that made her a little less apprehensive.

Playin' around..

Sunbathing (just kidding, but it was cute to pose her like this for a second)...

After the pool, we went back to her Nana and Papa's to get cleaned up. They watched her for a couple hours so Michael and I could go to dinner. These next two pictures were texts they sent me while we were apart. I love getting proof she is okay :).

After our little date, Michael had to go to work so I took Em over to see my parents too for a bit.
She enjoyed some hammock time with her Grandpa!

Then we spent an hour and a half stuck in traffic on the way home. A screaming baby really does make driving torturous. But we made it safely and it was a great day besides that!

Tomorrow is the first day for my Take A Lookin' At My Cookin' linkup!! Don't forget to linkup with a recipe and maybe a picture of it! I would love some participation ;).

Spring Cleaning and A Date!

On Monday we cleaned the house better than we have, like... ever. It was about time for some serious cleaning. Hey! I guess we could consider it our 'spring cleaning'! Anyway, I got this video of Michael cleaning the floors with Emily asleep in the front pack.

My parents were out of town this weekend visiting my sister at college so we were dog sitting for them. My mom came to get him on Monday and then babysat for us. We were going to see a movie but before we even got off of the freeway we changed our minds and went to lunch instead. We shared a steak and ribs and it was so nice to enjoy a warm meal together undisturbed ;). After lunch we went to a couple stores and just hung out together. We are really easy to please, haha. We were only gone a couple of hours but Emily needed her mama so we came home.

As nice as it is to get out just the two of us, it is really hard for me to leave Emily. I get anxiety at just the thought of leaving her and while I am gone I have to call and check on her a few times. She doesn't really do well (especially at night) with babysitters even though we only have grandparents watch her. I'm hoping it will get easier for both of us soon. I think it would help if she took a bottle! But in the meantime, we spend a lot of time together and I am okay with that. :)

Fun Times and Happy St. Patty's Weekend!

Hey, ya'll! Just thought I would do a little update on what we've been up to. First of all, Em is as cute as ever...

We've also bee with family a lot in Orange County. Last weekend I went to a friends bachelorette party and we stayed over at Michaels parents house. We also went to church with them and then had dinner at my parents house. Emily loves getting so much attention and love from everybody! She will never have to wonder if she is special to anyone.

Michael and I braved going out to dinner with Emily...

I brought her diaper bag in with a bunch of things to entertain her. I call it my bag of tricks, haha. We ended up having to take turns eating while the other stood up next to the table and bounced Emily. Despite that, we enjoyed our "date", haha! I had chicken fajitas and Michael got a burger.
I've started counting the number of people who come up to us to goosh over Emily. That night we got 4 or 5 people. It's so fun to show off our beautiful, sweet baby girl. Everyone loves her!!

This weekend we will be busy (again, out in OC) helping Michaels brother and sister in law, Tyler and Sarah, move into their first apartment and then later that night is my friends wedding. I'm also dog sitting for my parents.

Have a great St. Patty's Day weekend!!

Valentine's Date and We Are Private!

We are now a private blog! Woot!

Hopefully you guys make it here...it's such a pain, I know, to have to click on the link to my blog to see it but maybe if you add it to your favorites you will be more likely to remember? Whatever works for you! I was having second thoughts about going private because it is such a hassle for you guys but as I was entering each of your email addresses, I felt reassured that I was making the right decision. I feel like a load is off of my shoulders now!

So now, my first private post!

Happy Valentine's Day!! We actually celebrated yesterday. I got to have a massage, come home to my baby NOT crying, just chillin in the front pack as my awesome hubby carried her around while he cleaned the floors. AWESOME, right?! Then, I got to shower in peace and get ready for our date!

We drove out to Michaels parents house, I fed Emily, and we left to go to dinner at Claim Jumper. It was deeelicious! I got rib eye, a baked sweet potato, veggies, and their cheesy garlic bread. Not too healthy but oooh my gosh it was so yummy! Michael and I both love our food. Sometimes we hardly talk during dinner except to make sounds like "mmmm" or "oh my gosh...so goooood" hahaha.

After dinner we drove across the street to the mall and had fun walking around and looking in shops. I was kind of looking for skirts that I could wear but I didn't find ANY that weren't mini skirts or super tight. Well, I found one that I liked, but Michael said it was too "wanna smoke some weed?"-ish. Like..Bob Marley colors or something? I dunno. Ha. I guess I will have to keep looking.

We had a cone at Dairy Queen at the mall, went back to get Emily, came home and watched an episode of How I Met Your Mother (we are watching them all together), and went to bed.

Valentines Day, 2012? Success.

December Randomness

December is always really crazy for us. We have birthdays, anniversary, Christmas...so we have been busy! Emily turned 3 months old in Christmas day. My little girl is growing so fast!

My bestie Kaitlin came down for Disneyland and stopped by to visit and see Emily for the first time! I made chicken tacos because she loves them :). It was so good to see her! Last time I saw her was the week she stayed with us last January and we found out I was pregnant :).

Emmy started holding onto things...

Another friend of mine, Alyssa, came to visit too! I hadn't seen her in like 4 years! I didn't get a picture with her but she took this one, lol.

Bad quality pic but this was right before Michael and I went out to celebrate his birthday and our anniversary. while my parents babysat.
