Catching Up On Blogging!

Wow, I am SO behind in blogging about what has been going on! It's time for a major update!

***

In the spirit of fall, I made a wreath....

I got the straw wreath and leaves from Michaels (the store) and hot glue gunned it. Tied a loop at the top with an orange ribbon that matched and voila!

I also had a Twitter friend (@slumie) make this cute little "T" for me in Halloween colors!

She made me one in green and red for Christmas too.

****

I mentioned before how we got tickets from my blog friend, Lin, to go to a food truck festival. I had never been to one before but we desperately needed a change of pace and we love food!

We invited my BIL, Jason, his wife Jocelyn, and their daughter Ellie to come with us. It was so much fun! Ellie and Emily are just about three months apart so it's fun to get the girls together. Cousins! Anyway, here are some pictures from that little outing!

Okay, more updates to come tomorrow. I hope you had a great Halloween!

Emily's Birthday Party {Decor and Food}

Here is part one of the pictures from Emily's birthday party!! There are so many I wanted to share so I decided to break them up into categories. This one is all about the small little details.

My mom brought fresh flowers from her garden. They added just the right feel to the party.

I found the flag banner (pink with white polka dots), candy buffet plastic container kit, white scoops, and balloons all via Kara's Party Ideas.

A friend of mine taught me how to make the tissue pompoms so I made six and they were spread around the two rooms.

The half sheet cake, 5" round cake, and cupcakes were all purchased from Sams Club.
It was affordable, easy, tasted good, and I love how they turned out! (Except they mashed the cupcakes around the small round cake, therefore ruining the look of it when we separated them.)

Oh well, I still loved it!

Fresh fruit is a must at any party.

I love these wraps! Costco.

Candy for the candy buffet.

Paper straws via ISAKAY Boutique on Etsy.

Water bottle labels made by your truly. :)

There were also croissant sandwiches, a bowl of popcorn, a beverage jar with pink lemonade, and candy goody bags.

Jewelry Display

How do you display and store your jewelry?

I've always just used two things: My jewelry box and a random bag that I keep in my closet.

While it works for storing my jewelry, I always end up forgetting about long lost items and then never wear them. They also get tangled and then if I do go through it and want something, I have to untangle it and I usually end up throwing it back in saying, "forget it!" and picking an untangled item that I always wear because it's easier.

BUT. Since I have been trying to branch out and wear more jewelry like this new statement necklace I bought...

..and this more simple but pretty necklace.

I really want to organize what I have in a way that it doesn't get tangled and I can easily see all of my options!

I came across this idea on Pinterest...

What do you think?

It's silverware compartments spray painted then tailed onto a wall. I love it! I just need to convince Michael to let me do this.

DIY: Valentine's Wreath

I know it's shocking, right?! I hardly ever do crafts. But my friend Rachel invited me over to make this wreath and I really do like to do this stuff, I just lack the motivation to get materials and actually do it most of the time. I accepted her invitation and even went to buy my first glue gun...ever. Is that ridiculous?!

And now...I love making wreaths!

I made one for my mom first and then made one for my own door.

It's so easy. You buy the wreath, tons of candy hearts and glue, and about two rolls of ribbon...

Wrap the ribbon all around the wreath and then glue the last end piece down...

Glue the hearts all over, facing in different directions. You could do it with the 'conversation' part facing up but I liked mine facing down so I could just use it for spring too if I want. Plus some of the words were blurry, yada yada.

Then let it all settled for a bit, peel off the strings of glue that get everywhere, tie a pice of ribbon around it to hang and then another piece make into a big bow around the first piece and....

This is what you get!

Cute, right?! I love it.
Some of the hearts have fallen off here and there but it takes no time at all to glue them back on and stick it back up on the door.

I'm already thinking of other wreaths I can make.

P.S- I know she has nothing to do with my wreath, but she is pretty dang cute so I can't help but post a couple pictures of my little darlin'!
