House Cleaning Tips

A couple of months ago, right before Emily's birthday party, I asked a couple of my friends from church who do house cleaning to come over and help me out with some of the deep cleaning in my house. I had zero energy and was so sick, I just couldn't do it and it was stressing me out that I was going to have a bunch of people over who would see my dirty house.

So they came over to inspect my house and gave me a list of some things I needed for them to do a good job. I had no idea I was lacking so much in the cleaning supplies department too! I had the typical bathroom cleaner, Pledge, comet, Windex, and old towels that Michael used to use for window cleaning before we were married. But I learned so much in the way of cleaning by what they told me I needed and watching them make my house the cleanest I had ever seen it.

Here are the top three things I am so glad I learned:

1. Oxi Clean Kaboom Foam-Tastic bathroom cleaner does wonders for hard water stains. Our shower door gets it really bad. Spray it on and it is blue, it turns white when it's clean, scrub down and that's it! It smells really strong so I haven't been able to do it a lot while pregnant but it does work!!

2. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser- how did I not know about these things?! My stove top was seemingly permanently ruined from spilled over water rings. It took them an hour of scrubbing it with this and ammonia for it to become like new. It's perfectly sparkly clean now! This picks it right up.

 3. Microfiber cloths to clean with are way more effective than regular cloth towels. I would always see streaks on my kitchen counter even after wiping it down. Now I know to use hot soapy water instead of cleaning products, scrub down counters, appliances, and the faucet with one cloth soaked in soapy water. When everything is sudsy and clean, I wipe it down again with a clean dry microfiber cloth and there are no streaks or anything. Perfectly shiny kitchen!! I use these on everything now with the appropriate cleaning supplies. HUGE difference.

Maybe everyone already knew these tips but me, but I'm guessing some of you, like me, just needed a little help! I hope this helps!

Spring Cleaning and A Date!

On Monday we cleaned the house better than we have, like... ever. It was about time for some serious cleaning. Hey! I guess we could consider it our 'spring cleaning'! Anyway, I got this video of Michael cleaning the floors with Emily asleep in the front pack.

My parents were out of town this weekend visiting my sister at college so we were dog sitting for them. My mom came to get him on Monday and then babysat for us. We were going to see a movie but before we even got off of the freeway we changed our minds and went to lunch instead. We shared a steak and ribs and it was so nice to enjoy a warm meal together undisturbed ;). After lunch we went to a couple stores and just hung out together. We are really easy to please, haha. We were only gone a couple of hours but Emily needed her mama so we came home.

As nice as it is to get out just the two of us, it is really hard for me to leave Emily. I get anxiety at just the thought of leaving her and while I am gone I have to call and check on her a few times. She doesn't really do well (especially at night) with babysitters even though we only have grandparents watch her. I'm hoping it will get easier for both of us soon. I think it would help if she took a bottle! But in the meantime, we spend a lot of time together and I am okay with that. :)

Valentine's Date and We Are Private!

We are now a private blog! Woot!

Hopefully you guys make it here...it's such a pain, I know, to have to click on the link to my blog to see it but maybe if you add it to your favorites you will be more likely to remember? Whatever works for you! I was having second thoughts about going private because it is such a hassle for you guys but as I was entering each of your email addresses, I felt reassured that I was making the right decision. I feel like a load is off of my shoulders now!

So now, my first private post!

Happy Valentine's Day!! We actually celebrated yesterday. I got to have a massage, come home to my baby NOT crying, just chillin in the front pack as my awesome hubby carried her around while he cleaned the floors. AWESOME, right?! Then, I got to shower in peace and get ready for our date!

We drove out to Michaels parents house, I fed Emily, and we left to go to dinner at Claim Jumper. It was deeelicious! I got rib eye, a baked sweet potato, veggies, and their cheesy garlic bread. Not too healthy but oooh my gosh it was so yummy! Michael and I both love our food. Sometimes we hardly talk during dinner except to make sounds like "mmmm" or "oh my gosh...so goooood" hahaha.

After dinner we drove across the street to the mall and had fun walking around and looking in shops. I was kind of looking for skirts that I could wear but I didn't find ANY that weren't mini skirts or super tight. Well, I found one that I liked, but Michael said it was too "wanna smoke some weed?"-ish. Like..Bob Marley colors or something? I dunno. Ha. I guess I will have to keep looking.

We had a cone at Dairy Queen at the mall, went back to get Emily, came home and watched an episode of How I Met Your Mother (we are watching them all together), and went to bed.

Valentines Day, 2012? Success.
