A Gym Rat Rant

Going to the gym several times a week has been great for my physical and mental fitness. But there are some things that just irritate me when I go. Here are some of those things:
  • People who are there for reasons other than to work out. Like being there to pick up on someone.
  • Girls who wear skantily clad clothing. If I see your boobs or your butt cheeks, you need more clothing! I don't want to see that!
  • Those who wear jeans to work out.
  • Women who wear their long hair down while doing cardio exercise. I don't get it! Doesn't it annoy them?! This one lady had hair litereally down to her butt in my Zumba class.
  • Full face of fresh makeup.
  • Women who don't wear bras. I mean, really. This should be a rule. Wear. A. Bra.
  • Men who stare and/or wink at you creepily. I came to work out. Not to be gawked at.
  • Women wearing leggings that are so thin I can see their underwear when they bend over. Again, I don't want to see that!
  • Seeing people who are there but aren't really there. When I see someone on the cycle machine reading a book and pedaling so slowly that it probably isn't even turned on. Or in a class when someone is barely even moving.
That last one used to be me. I would go and just kinda barely work out. I would do the minimal amount. But now after this newfound love of getting in shape and different mindset, I just want others to feel the same sense of pride after they work out that I do. When I leave the gym sweaty and red faced with a smile, I love it! I know everyone has a right to work out however they want. And anything is better than nothing! I just want to tell those people to that if you are going to be there- BE THERE! Try hard! Do your best! Don't half heartily do it.

End rant :)

Ok so I'm guilty of wearing makeup to workout. Sadly, but I just don't go anywhere without makeup. My biggest pet peeve at the gym is people wearing cologne or perfume. Some wear so much that I find it hard to breathe. And let's face it, breathing at the gym is super important!

I can never understand the no bra thing. All that wiggling just looks like it HURTS!

Well said! Some people wear the most disturbing things to work out in... *shudder*. And I can't imagine how wearing hair down during cardio can possibly be comfortable. Blegh.

I used to be guilty of wearing makeup to the gym but I was hitting the gym on my way home from work everyday. I hated when people would work out on a machine then sit on it when they were done and play on their phones. And guys who don't wear shirts while working out. I think shirts and pants for all should be required!

YES!! Couldn't agree more! The other day there was a guy working out in jeans drinking a HOT venti latte... It's not normal!

My biggest pet peeve is the guy who doesn't bring earphones and plays his music for all to hear.

Sometimes I just like to work out to my own thoughts- not someone else's idea of workout music.

Other than that I'm just there to get my workout done and get out =)

LOVE these! Bahahah! The "Wear. A. Bra" literally made me LOL.
I also love the pins. I love those abs and the quote! I definitely don't look cute right after I work out. I gotta let my face go back to normal colors lol.

I can't say I have pet peeves because I haven't been to the gym in years. You already know I do my group fitness classes. When I did go to the gym, however, I'd see people in jeans which really annoyed me. I'd also get annoyed with the people that worked there just on their phone. I didn't like when people wouldn't rack their weights. Just little things.

For some of us, gym time is right after work. There have been many days I'm running into the gym full make-up, heels and a dress because I just came out of work. I don't workout with makeup b/c I want to look cute. I do it because I didn't feel like taking a shower to wash it off before a workout that would just make me all gross again.

I agree with all your points. I workout on base, so that's takes away from the 'dress' issues. I also have to say that I do put on eye makeup before my workouts. I also straighten my hair each morning before the gym, because it stays up better throughout my workouts. Otherwise I'll be readjusting the pile of hair on my head every 10 seconds.
There is a guy who reads the paper while using the bike .. it's funny. So glad you are working out!! Love to read about your routine sometime. <3, Amy

There's a guy at our gym that coooonstantly makes "working out noises" like grunting and stuff. He does it SUPER loudly and non-stop. I guess he's trying to show off in some really strange way? I don't know, but he's always there and I can hear him even when I have headphones in. So annoying and unnecessary.

I'm with you on most of these.

Yes. All of these. The weird thing though is the jeans bother me the most!! LOL!

I hate creepy guys at the gym... or anywhere, really. My husband always tells me that I'm a creep magnet and it's so true.

This just makes me feel bad about not going to the gym. Ha!

Loved this!
There is a lady in my Zumba class who always wears really low cut tank tops. Eeek...she's going to have a nip slip one of these days.

I always wonder about the women with their hair down. I get hot and gross with my hair UP! I can't imagine how gross their hair and neck get with it down. Yuck!
