Tutus, Carseats, Weddings, and Tantrums

I'm trying my best to write this weekend post with an overall good mood but it kinda had a rough ending so now that I'm typing it up, that's my feeling.

It was a slow Friday. I went to the gym (been practicing running for my first 5k!) and then hung out with Emily as Michael went to work. Pretty normal.

On Saturday I cleaned the house and then my parents and brother came over for dinner and games. It was fun! They got to see Emily dressed in her tutu outfit my mom bought for her. We also got Emily's new carseat in the mail so I took pictures of her modeling next to/on the box.

It was good to see family. My parents were picking up their dog I was dog sitting while they were on vacation in China for almost three weeks!

On Sunday we went to church. Emily did pretty well in nursery this week. Between that and the excitement of her riding forward in the car for the first time, we were in good moods!

We were in good moods until we made the poor decision to bring Emily with us to a 4:30 wedding. We had to wake her up from her nap (our first mistake), take her straight there (skipping lunch since she fell asleep right after church- second mistake), saw the beautiful ceremony at the beautiful outdoor location (as poor Michael took Emily on a walk away from the wedding because she started to throw a fit), then afterwards she played in the grass but when it was time to go inside for the reception she had yet another meltdown. Poor kid. Poor us. We tried to take her in (as she started running around and screaming, pulling on tableclothes, reaching for candles, etc.). It hadn't even started yet and we knew there was no way she would make it through a nice, quiet, fancy meal. And neither would we. So we had to leave. It's so sad that we couldn't stay to enjoy it. LESSON LEARNED. Don't bring a toddler to a wedding!!!!

Thank goodness our friends (the newlyweds) just moved into a house down the street so we have lots of time to apologize to them :). Here are some pictures from the wedding that I took, as Michael got mad that I wasn't helping him chase Emily around as much as I should have. In heels. And a dress. Ahem, anyway....

It was really disappointing having to leave the wedding. We were both pretty upset and trying not to blame each other because it really was both of us who chose to bring Emily. Because the groom, Todd, wanted us to. But we should have known better! Next time.

Yay for training for your first 5k! And Emily looks adorable in that tutu. Sorry to hear the wedding didn't go so well, but there's always next time? Or not... but you did get some great pictures!

What a beautiful location for a wedding ceremony! And that's a bummer that she was fussy, but at least she's adorable! :)

Oh no... I'm so sorry to hear about the wedding fiasco. Lesson learned, I guess! She does, however, look uber cute in her tutu :)
