Are you in school? Are you specifically looking for chemistry tutoring? Varsity Tutors is a website that has been featured on CBS, FOX, and NBC. They have certified tutors in areas all over the states who also tutor in other subjects as well. They have pictures of the tutors, a little blurb they write about themselves to get to know them a little better, and a list of the subjects they tutor in. It also shows what their education level is, where they went to school, and what their majors are.
I think it's great that there is a website where students can go to find a certified tutor who you can feel confident is going to help you achieve your educational goals. You can get a feel for what kind of personality they have and if you will mesh well just from reading a little bit about them.
For example, I was looking through some of the tutors information and one of them in particular seems like someone I would like to get tutoring from (if I were living in the New York City area and needed a tutor). Her name is Elizabeth and she wrote:
"I'm in New York studying theater and voice but miss my science classes and students like crazy! I'm particularly strong in biology but also totally comfortable with chemistry, English and writing, social studies/history, and test prep. As a teacher my style is to help students discover the answers on their own, and become more confident in their ability to use critical thinking. When I'm not tutoring you can find me running or playing with my mutt Franklin!
I would want it to be tutored by someone I felt like I could relate to and feel comfortable asking for help from. Anyway, I hope those of you who are searching for tutors for either yourself or someone else can use this website as a tool to help you find the right one!
