July 4th and Chili Cook Off

It has been a tradition of ours to all go to Michaels grandparents house on the fourth of July. Their house is up on a hill and from their backyard you can see several sets of fireworks from different locations, including Disneyland. The first time I went was when we were dating and I remember Michaels mom told me to just sit on his lap so I have someplace to sit :-) Then we went last year, and this year again. This time my family came too. We also had Jasons girlfriend Jocelyn (as she is future family...) and Sarah (she is waiting for Tyler on his mission) there, along with Sarahs family. And of course lots of other family too! So we had a yummy BBQ, an awesome ice cream sandwich cake that Diana made, and some people got in the pool. We just sat outside and chatted until it was time to set up chairs along the pool for the fireworks. After the fireworks, my poor, fully clothed dad fell into the pool. It was covered by the tarp and it sort of blended in with the cement. He had to hurry home before he froze to death. I felt so bad for him! Yesterday we went to their grandparents house again for Jason's birthday bash. He decided that he wanted to have a pool party and chili cook off with his mom and whoever else was brave enough to try to outcook them. Tiffany was the only one who dared! :-) All of the chili was great, however I am a bit of a baby when it comes to spicey foods so my favorite was the least spicey, more beany chili. It just so happened it was Jasons! For his birthday we thought it would be funny to get him a "Chili's" gift card, chapstick, and some mints. It's the perfect date kit. Haha! Well..we liked it! :-) It was really fun to hang out with family again and this time since they had it at noon, Michael was able to go for a while before work! Finally!
