#2 Academically, #1 To Shelley!

Once again, we are very busy. Even more busy now that I am working full time. I was able to pull off A's somehow this past semester (my last semester of school!) and then I started working the next monday after finals. It was very hard adjusting to working full time after not working at all for almost a year but I feel better about myself, contributing to the income and saving up for a condo so we can move out in December! Wow, that was a long sentence. Anyway, I work from 8:00 to 4:30 and I think my official title is Assistant Facility Maintenance Dispatcher. So far I am just learning how to enter things into the computer and the guys call in after they complete a job so that I can "close them out" which basically means enter into the computer their hours of work, travel, getting parts they needed...I also enter all these codes for what parts they used and how much they cost and also write about what they did on the job and if it is complete or not. I was very surprised by how nerve racking it was for me to answer the phone or make calls. Not to the guys that work with me but for customers because I was so afraid of messing something up or sounding like an idiot. The first time I made a call to ask for pricing and availability, when I hung up the phone I almost cried and I felt all hot and panicky. Weird, huh? Anyways, I have worked there for two weeks now and things have settled down a bit. I'm getting more comfortable with learning new things and I ask a LOT of questions, which they said was good. All in all the job has been a challenge (the long day at work, and getting up early too!) but I am happy to do it with a goal in mind!

Michael is number two academically in his class!!! I am SO proud of him. He was class sergeant for a little while and he was the first sergeant to not cause the class to do discipline for messing up. Basically a class sergeant is one of the guys in the class and someone new is picked about every week. He is the leader of the class for that time and if he messes up, the whole class suffers. It's very stressful and hard to do. Michael has lost 11 pounds since he started the academy so that should give you a better idea of how hard it is. But he is doing VERY well. His goal is to be #1 in his class so he can say he was the top of his class :-)! I think he might be able to do it. He is very smart and a great leader. We are halfway through! He graduates in mid August and we can't wait! After that he plans on working as an SSO for a bit and then if the new Sheriff (who is a woman) changes the system and makes it so that the SSO's can go to a 10 week completion program to become Deputy Sheriff's, then he will do that. If not, after working as an SSO and taking a bit of an academy break, he will start applying to police departments in Orange County.

Just another note is that I have been watching So You Think You Can Dance and I really like a lot of the dancers. This past week I liked http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esQqZCzsHjE and the week before that I really liked http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZ2RPi_4cQo. Of course those are just the ones that stuck in my mind the most. I love this show!

That's what we have been up to lately! Hope all is well with everyone and feel free to leave me some comments as a reward for updating my blog! :-)

Congrats Mikey! #2 is super impressive, and no mess ups as sergeant is awesome! Also congrats to Shelley for getting started at your new job. Feels really weird not being in school huh? I'm proud of you guys for all your hard work and planning! It's so exciting to own your own place, I can't wait to come visit you!

Hey congrats on everything a little late! You 2 make a super cute couple. I try not to worry too much about the back pain. After all, it's only 9 short months and you don't even gain much until the last 3 or 4 months. I hope Sheri finds herself a nice boy like Michael. Congrats again on all the accomplishments! Glad we can keep in touch!
